How Audiences Work in Relevize
When you define targeting parameters in Relevize, you’re not creating just one audience. Instead, you’re setting the boundaries for who your campaign can reach. Relevize automatically generates and tests multiple audience variations based on your selections to find the best-performing combination.
Build your targeting criteria
Add all the attributes you want to target — including job titles, functions, seniority levels, skills, and company attributes such as industry and company size.Approve your audience scope
The selections you make tell Relevize which audience segments you’re open to targeting. You’re approving the full range of targeting options, not just a single audience.Automatic audience generation
When the campaign launches, Relevize’s system creates multiple audience variations to test.Example 1: One audience may include company attributes + job titles.
Example 2: Another might include company attributes + job function + seniority + member skills.
Testing and optimization
Relevize tests these combinations to determine which audience delivers the highest engagement and best overall campaign performance.
Building Your Audience
LinkedIn targeting parameters are pulled directly from LinkedIn’s API. You can search and select attributes to define your ideal audience.
1. Location
Targets users based on profile location, not company headquarters.
Tip: Broader targeting (e.g., at the state or national level) often improves performance.
2. Industry
Choose from a wide range of industries and sub-industries using the drop-down menus.
You can also set industry exclusions as needed.
3. Job Title
Begin typing to view available job titles.
Recommendation: Include as many relevant titles as possible—larger audiences generally perform better.
4. Job Function
Select from LinkedIn’s pre-set functions.
Be aware that LinkedIn may group some roles under broader categories (e.g., executives under “Business Development”).
5. Seniority
Commonly targeted levels include Manager, Director, VP, and C-Level.
“Senior” is also a good option to include.
6. Years of Experience
Optional.
If used, target approximately 7–12+ years of experience for best results.
7. Member Skills
Add skills that are relevant to your audience (e.g., Cybersecurity, DevOps, AWS).
Include multiple skills to broaden reach.
8. Company Name
If you'd like to use a larger account list for targeting or exclusions, please follow instructions here
If you're account list is short (<10 names), you can input the company names directly into Relevize
9. Company Size
Select desired company sizes.
Note that cost per click and cost per lead typically rise with company size.
10. Interest Groups
Think about the groups your target audience would join or follow.
Add all relevant interests to expand reach.
Automatic Exclusions
Relevize applies several exclusions automatically to ensure audience quality:
Industries: Business Consulting and Services, Outsourcing and Offshoring Consulting, Advertising Services, IT Services and IT Consulting
Roles: Adjunct Professor, Babysitter, Bus Driver, Busser, Camp Counselor, Chef, Dishwasher, Forklift Operator, Graduate, Intern, Major Retired, Nurse, Professor, Registered Nurse, Retired, Salesperson, School Counselor, Self Employed, Semi Retired, Sous Chef, Student, Teacher, Truck Driver, Unemployed, Welder
Companies: Your own company and partner companies
Small Company Sizes: “Myself only” and “2–10 employees”
If you add any of these attributes to your target audience, your selections will override the automatic exclusion.
